Asha Bhosle to be awarded Vishwa Bhushan

Veteran singer Asha Bhosle will be adding another feather to her cap soon -- she is going to be awarded the Vishwa Bhushan Award by the US-based Brihan Maharashtra Mandal (BMM) at their convention being held in Philadelphia. This is the first time the BMM has constituted such an award. Asha will also perform two shows at the convention on the fourth weekend of July this year.

Asha's son Anand reveals, "The BMM has invited my mother to visit their Philadelphia convention in July. They have constituted an award for the first time to pay tribute to the talented Indians who have made India proud. It's called the Vishwa Bhushan Award and my mother has been chosen by the BMM to be the first recipient of this award. She becomes the first Indian to be awarded this award and it's a great thing."

He further adds, "She is very excited to perform in front of the people of US. They love her and she loves the warmth she has always received there. She also has a couple of performances lined up in India this year, but the logistics are still being looked into."
