Shruthi Hassan’s tattoo is the talk of the town

Shruthi Hassan, well known as the daughter of versatile actor Kamal Hassan is suddenly becoming the talk of the town. First it was her movie debut which made the gossipmongers wag their tongues. Now it is a fact that she is going to debut with a Hindi film titled as “Luck”. Afterwards it was her dating rumor with her band group co mate.

Now the latest is her tattoo which is embossed on her left shoulder which says “Shruthi Hassan!” in Tamil.

Well it has become new trend to tattoo arms, waist, naval, shoulders, hands, bosomed thighs with some figures such as angels, names, falcons, flowers and so on….stars like Trisha, Kareena Kapoor , Saif Ali Khan, Sneha Ullal have already joined the list. Now Shruthi has become an art of the celebrity group who sport a tattoo. Her new tattoo is said to be the talk of the town as it was revealed in one of the party functions which was attended by Shruthi Hassan’s. She was wearing a body hugging dress with open slit till shoulders and so her tattoo emerged out to the shutter bugs.

It is also revealed that Shruthi Hassan is a very bold girl who likes to try out every fashion accessory, style and dress on herself. She is said to be a trendsetter among the happening social youngsters in Chennai.

PM to undergo heart surgery tomorrow

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will undergo heart surgery at AIIMS on Saturday.

Dr Manmohan Singh will undergo coronary artery bypass graft surgery on January 24 at AIIMS," PTI reported quoting PMO spokesperson.

The PM's surgery would be performed by a team of doctors from AIIMS, Mumbai and US.

Sources said that the doctors are yet to decide whether it would be an angioplasty or a coronary bypass surgery.

Earlier this week, the PM underwent extensive medical tests at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

An official PMO statement on Wednesday said the PM had undergone "diagnostic evaluation" and "treatment procedures which have been recommended would be undertaken in a few days". It was said on Tuesday that Singh was being given an overall medical check-up.

Doctors attending to the PM made it clear that he did not face any medical emergency. They said he was stable and did not face any physical discomfort during the tests. The doctors who conducted angiography - X-ray examination of the blood vessels or chambers of the heart through a small tube inserted into a blood vessel - on Singh also carried out multiple blood chemistry tests, CT scan and ECG. These tests are understood to have revealed arterial blockages in the heart.

Singh, 76, is a diabetic and has been controlling the condition with medicines
and exercise like regular walking. He underwent a cardiac bypass surgery in 1990 in UK, and angioplasty in Delhi in 2004 in which stents were introduced in his arteries.

Slumdog Millionaire bags 10 Oscar nominations

Inching closer towards an Oscar, composer A R Rahman today got himself nominated for three Academy awards for his score in British-Indian movie "Slumdog Millionaire", which was also shortlisted for seven other categories, including best film and best director.

"Something good is happening and I am really happy about it," was the reaction of Rahman, who became the first Indian to win a triple Oscar nomination.

Rahman was nominated for Best Original Score and the numbers 'Jai Ho' and 'O Saya' were shortlisted for the Best Original Song.

Close on the heels of the dual-language film winning four Golden Globes, including one for Rahman, earlier this month, Danny Boyle and Simon Beaufoy were shortlisted for best director and best adapted screenplay categories.

The film also won nominations in cinematography, sound mixing, sound editing and film editing.

David Fincher's romantic periodical "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", starring Brad Pitt, topped this year's race with a whopping 13 nominations.

The nominations were announced at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theatre by Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker. The winners will be named on February 22 at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.

Only two Indian have won the coveted Oscar till date -- Bhanu Athaiya (for costume design in "Gandhi") and Satyajit Ray, who was given an honorary Oscar for his contribution to films.
