Producer seeks action against posting of Villu stunt scene on Net

Arun Pandian, actor and co-producer of Tamil film Villu, on Monday met city police commissioner K Radhakrishnan and sought action against those who posted a stunt sequence of the film on the internet. Special teams comprising cyber crime experts have been formed to track down the culprits. Villu, starring Vijay and Nayanthara, is slated for a Pongal release.

According to sources, Arun Pandian had expressed shocked on seeing the film's fight scene, lasting a few minutes, uploaded on to the internet. The incident, sources said, had reportedly been brought to his notice by some well-wishers.

On Monday, after submitting his complaint petition, the actor-producer in a deliberate attempt to avoid the mediapersons waiting outside with questions used another exit out of the commissionerate.

The sources said that Arun Pandian had been asked by a senior police officer not to reveal any news with regard to his complaint. Meanwhile, media public relations officer (PRO) Diamond Babu said, "Arun Pandian and Karuna Murthy owned Ayngaran International Films Pvt Ltd and they are producing the Tamil film Villu."

According to sources, the petition has been forwarded to the cyber crime wing for further investigation.

"We have collected the details about the uploaded stunt scene. As one of the producers of the film has approached the police, it is possible that those persons who uploaded the scenes on to the internet have deleted the scenes from public viewing. As the post-production work is under way, the technicians involved in it will be questioned if needed. The clippings may have been leaked through this route. We have got a valid clue and hope to soon trace the miscreants responsible," a cyber crime wing member said.

Later in the day, TOI attempted to contact Arun Pandian on his mobile number for his response but failed.
